I am interested in memory, the traces it leaves, fragmented and elusive, and how it appears and reappears in new narratives. This sound piece is one of these narratives, and it's also an invitation to think about how we remember the places we grew up in.

You’ll hear - not in this order:
my mother talking to my brother at the maternity, the day he was born, in 2001, taken from family footage
my grandmother calling her cat in her garden, filmed on my phone in 2023
my sister and my cousins laughing and making jokes, they recorded themselves using my grandmother’s tape recorder
my cousin calling my sister to come play and telling her “yééé yééé je suis dans le ciel”, filmed in 2002, taken from family footage
the bell of my hometown church recorded by my brother in 2023 specifically for this project
the harmoniun of my hometown church played by my dad
a slow down version of a song my friend played on piano and guitar
birds, airplane, wind recorded in my hometown
my grandmother talking to my sister, showing her how to record herself with her tape recorder
my 6 year old self, telling stories to the camera, my dad filming, filmed in 1995
